In this episode the guys take a deep dive into PaperCut Mobility Print. Chris recently did a demo of the product and Josh talks about how his district uses it. Then, they briefly touch on the new announcement of funding for schools to purchase computer equipment that will be administered through USAC, but it is a separate pool of money than E-rate.

Josh talks about a vulnerability scanning and pen testing service offered to K12 Public School Districts for free via MS-ISAC and CISA. Then the guys interview Donatello as he tells the story of his ransomware attack during the 2019 school year. We learn a few interesting facts including that Donatello likes pineapple on his pizza.

Episode 33 - A Ransomware Interview with "Gene"
Thursday Apr 29, 2021
Thursday Apr 29, 2021
In this episode we interview another ransomware victim, "Gene." There aren't a lot of words to describe the story we hear from Gene besides, WOW. This interview is unlike any of the others we have done. The phrase that Gene used that stuck out to me (Josh) was "If the house was on fire, would I need to tell you to go get water?" Gene tells his story with an amazing amount of candor, honesty and humor. Gene does say several times that his district leadership and faculty could not have been more supportive of his efforts during his multi-week recovery, yes, multi-week recovery.

Chris is absent so Cory and Josh do all the talking. They talk about their major takeaways from Denzel's interview last week. They talk about a recent notification from Aruba Networks about a vulnerability in ClearPass. They also each name a company they wish they could make disappear with a snap of the fingers... Episode 31 - A Ransomware Interview with Denzel
Thursday Apr 15, 2021
Thursday Apr 15, 2021
In this episode we quickly talk about the Google Drive outage earlier in the week, and the fact that Google turned on the Plagiarism feature that checks against other students' work.
The majority of our hour long episode is an interview with Denzel. Denzel is the Tech Director at a school that was recently hit with ransomware. He shares with us details of the attack, from waking up and realizing over his morning coffee that they had major issues, to the day he realized the "bad guys" posted data they harvested online.
His story drives home a few major points including the one we all know... the best prepared department can fall victim. We hope you learn something from our interview with Denzel!

Chris and Josh are pretty laid back this episode because it is Spring Break and the biggest worry is cutting grass at home. The guys review an AP from Ruckus and discuss the different options that Ruckus brings to the table.
A big THANK YOU to Ruckus for providing the AP for us to review. Visit RUCKUS® | CommScope for more info about their product offerings and Business Alliance.
